DomainTools develops cyber threat intelligence tools that focus on mapping bad actor behavior across the internet’s infrastructure.  Over time, the company has developed numerous special purpose lookup tools and a primary investigation tool called Iris. The company faced two major obstacles in the market; a) overall the tools were disjointed and becoming increasingly irrelevant and b) the primary investigation tool was becoming increasingly complex and difficult to use. 

There were three primary objectives of this work:

  • Establish a unified modern direction for all tools and APIs
  • Develop a UX practice framework to support the new direction
  • Deliver the first product that represented this new direction

Impact

Worked across the organization and with key customers to deliver the following:

  • Established Design thinking internal working group with primary stakeholders
  • Conducted market and UX benchmark analysis for threat investigation
  • Designed new UX models for threat investigation
  • Designed the foundation of an integrated suite of products 
  • Delivered cross-product UX artifacts including UX principles, product brand characteristics, patterns, and visual design
  • Developed processes and practices to unify product and development operations. 
  • Promoted and delivered a component UX system that would integrate with development patterns
  • Delivered interaction and visual specification for 1st MVP product representing a new UX modern UX model
